April 1st - No joke, but you should really be our friend on facebook and follow us on twitter.

March 20th: Grab your best irish outfit and head down to the Shamrock Bar, Sydney RSL at 5pm for some fun, friendly wee games.  Grab a bite to eat, a yummy Shamrock cocktail or two, then jump aboard the party bus to continue into the dark night of Sydney.

February 20th:
Get down to Durty Nellys In Paddington for a night to remember, as we farewell our super defender Yvonne in true Sydney style.  She will be remembered for more than just our team umpire, and will certainly be missed, on and off the pitch.  Come along and share a beer, a memory, a cheer, and no tears!!

January 2010:
We have started back with our most requested beach sessions, and plan to go on a bigger hunt for the flag in 2010.  Come along and join in the fun, or sign up for another fun season on and off the field.

*   23rd August:  Well the playing season is over, and the parties are beginning, and we have so many achievements in our first year to toast -
*  First new team full of non-AFL background players
*  First team of irish ex-pats taking the game

*  First womens team on SWAFL's history to get double figure sponsorship
*  First AFL team coached by a bunch of foreigners (even USA had an Aussie coach)
*  Congrats from SWAFL committee on our professional setup and structure, in such a short time
*  A cocktail named after us and added to the menu
*  Our Inaugural guernseys presented to us by Sydney Swans players (and they still ask how we are going)
*  A bar named in our honour, and a place we can call home
*  Five players picked to play for NSW at nationals
*  Seven players picked to play in the Sydney Rookie team against USA
*  Our player Marie Keating sharing the golden boot award, though she played less gaems than the others.
*  First team of rookies to make it through to the playoffs, in their debut season
*  The best and most praised Captains in the lague (ok I may be a bit biased on this one)
*  The best and hardest working PR person in the league - Jamie Fitzsimons
*  Respect from our opponents, with cheers and personal congrats from coaches of Newtown, Sydney Uni, Mac Uni, Balmain, St George, and the SWAFL committee
*  A style of footy that is tough to beat when we are on fire, and something the other teams can only dream of executing as well.
*  Despite the huge numbers of injuries, we never gave up, and fought to the end.  That is COURAGE.

*   16 August:  Congratulations to Marie Keating, our full forward who took out SWAFL's golden boot for the 2nd year running.  This year, though Keats only played 9 of the 12 matches, she shared it with Bee Pride from Balmain Dockers and Bec Burridge from Newtown Breakaways.

*   1st August:  All the best to our rookies who will be taking on the touring USA Freedom team this week - Cara Connaire, Una McKay, Larissa Roper, Jenny Gillet, Kate Woodlands, Maeve Sullivan and Lara Creber.

*   20th June:  With the cheapest and bestest memberships in SWAFL, we are now offering our members an opportunity to purchase some limited edition merchandise at a discounted rate.  Dress like a Shamrock and Rock on.

*   June:  Go you good girls, congrats to our players picked in the NSW state team:
Our NSW Reps
Marie 'Keats' Keating, Una McKay, Kate 'Rowdy' Lancaster, Lisa 'Kiwi' Roper, Lizzie 'Dizzy' Gavaghan
Special congrats go to Keats who was picked for the squad of 40 best players from the tournament, and Una who twice picked up the NSW players player award.

*     May 20th:  keep a lookout for our very own bar?!!  Yes the Starlight bar at the Sydney RSL is to be relaunched as the Shamrock bar.  Another first for us and for SWAFL.  Launch date to be announced, so watch this space.

*     April 26th:  well we have so far had two matches, and they were both against two very tough teams.  The good news is we showed them we can compete.  In our first match against 5 time premiers Newtown, we led at halftime, only to have them fire up to ensure they were not to be beaten by a bunch of rookies.  They certainly gave us a lesson in bumps and tackles.  Players player: Dee B, 2nd by a point Rowdy.
Our 2nd match against reigning Premiers Wests, we took it to them.  They changed the date of the match to have their strongest team available, and we showed that we learnt a fair bit from our first match and the year so far.  We led the first quarter, and got within two points before succumbing to a late goal.  Still to lose by only 8 points to a team of this experience and coached by the state coach says a lot about the potential we have.  Players player: Una, and 2nd by a point was Keats.

*    April 8th, our formal jersey presentation night.  Don't miss it, bring your friends, families, supporters along.  Guests from Sydney Swans and SWAFL.

*    April 12th, is the Rubiks Cube party at the Gaff.  Meet for dinner and drinks at the RSL from 6.30pm.

*   Sydney RSL are signing on as our major sponsor, and our major watering hole. Based on George Street, they have four bars, including a cocktail bar, and they have setanta, which will no doubt come in super handy during the season to watch those games from home.   Sydney RSL also have the best schooner prices around, so pop down, have a beer, and let them know who's the best womens AFL club in town.

Check out all they have to offer at:  www.clubcitycentral.com.au

We would like to thank John, Hollie, and the board for their support, and we look forward to sharing many drinks with you in the future, and welcome you to Clan Shamrock.

*   Taste Ireland have signed on as our first associate sponsor.  We would like to thank them for their support, and the girls will really be looking into the fine products they have to help them cope away from the emerald isles.

Check out their goodies: www.tasteireland.com.au

We would like to welcome Eamon and his team to the Shamrock family.
